China Prioritizes AI and Quantum Tech for Military Modernization

The Government of China is modernizing its armed forces by prioritizing artificial intelligence, quantum technology, and hypersonic missiles to define the next era of warfare. Rather than matching the United States' current arsenal system-for-system, Beijing is pursuing a strategy to develop capabilities that offset traditional American military advantages.

This approach is rooted in the Unrestricted Warfare philosophy, which focuses on connected, intelligent systems and military-civilian fusion. By integrating research from universities and private companies, the state is developing tailless sixth-generation fighter prototypes, AI-powered drone swarms, and laser-based air defense systems.

These efforts align with the objective set by President Xi Jinping to establish a world-class military by 2049. The People's Liberation Army is accelerating the development of advanced aircraft carriers and weaponry as it approaches its 100th anniversary next year.
