BJP Criticizes Congress Chief Ministers for Skipping BRICS Dinner

The Bharatiya Janata Party criticized the Indian National Congress after three of its chief ministers declined an invitation to a dinner for BRICS leaders hosted by the Indian government in New Delhi. The absent leaders included Revanth Reddy of Telangana, V D Satheesan of Kerala, and D K Shivakumar of Karnataka.

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj accused the chief ministers of prioritizing partisan politics over the national interest, questioning if the opposition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi had evolved into opposition to India itself. Government sources characterized the invitations as part of India's BRICS presidency activities and described the absence of the opposition leaders as unfortunate.

Revanth Reddy had initially accepted the invitation on September 12, but his office later cited unavoidable circumstances for his failure to attend the event.
