Former State Legislative Leaders Endorse Bola Tinubu for 2027

The Forum of Former Presiding Officers of State Houses of Assembly of Nigeria (FOPSHAN) formally endorsed Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election during a national summit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The group pledged to mobilize over 11 million votes for the president, praising his bold economic reforms, including the removal of the petroleum subsidy.

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, who was named the organization's Grand Patron, urged the former legislative leaders to continue their commitment to public service and mentor younger legislators. She stated that the president has worked tirelessly to reposition the economy and lay a foundation for sustainable development.

Other officials and former leaders defended the administration's trajectory. Former Senate President Pius Anyim characterized the reforms as the work of a statesman, while Minister of State for Petroleum Heineken Lokpobiri noted that the petroleum sector had seen zero investment for over a decade prior to 2023. Senator Simon Lalong added that macroeconomic stability must now translate into tangible improvements for Nigerian citizens.
