Congress Launches 2027 Punjab Campaign at Insaaf Rally

The Indian National Congress launched its 2027 Punjab Assembly election campaign in Sangrur, targeting the Aam Aadmi Party over corruption and the drug menace.

The Indian National Congress launched its political campaign for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections on November 4, 2026, with the Insaaf Rally in Fagguwala village, Sangrur. Led by party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, the event served as the official start of Mission 2027, aiming to mobilize grassroots support in the politically significant Malwa region.

During the rally, party leaders launched sharp attacks on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. Mallikarjun Kharge alleged systemic corruption and claimed the state administration was sending public funds from Punjab to Delhi. He further characterized the AAP as a B-team for the BJP and RSS, accusing those organizations of dismantling democratic institutions. Rahul Gandhi criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for failing to eradicate the drug menace, alleging that Mann appeared under the influence of alcohol during morning interactions in Parliament.

Rahul Gandhi also used the platform to remember the late singer Sidhu Moosewala, describing him as a dynamic young man whom he had inducted into the party to provide political protection. Additionally, Congress members reiterated Gandhi's challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a face-to-face debate. Other leaders, including MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and AICC general secretary Sachin Pilot, described the rally as a decisive platform and a new ray of hope for the people of Punjab.
