President Tinubu Appoints Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as Civil Service Head

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President of Nigeria, appointed Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. The appointment becomes effective on August 27, 2026.

Enitan succeeds Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is retiring after reaching the statutory age of 60. President Tinubu expressed gratitude to Walson-Jack for the reforms and innovations she implemented during her tenure.

As the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service, Enitan most recently served in the Federal Ministry of Education. His professional background includes previous roles in the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and the Office of the Vice President.

President Tinubu tasked Enitan with deepening professionalism, efficiency, and accountability within the federal bureaucracy. These objectives are intended to support the administration's "Renewed Hope Agenda."
