Lauren Boebert Calls Iran War Detrimental During Campaign Debate
Representative Lauren Boebert criticized the costs of the military conflict with Iran while defending President Donald Trump's authority to use force during a Colorado debate.
U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert stated during a Monday debate in Colorado that the ongoing military conflict with Iran has been "detrimental on many levels." While expressing a desire for the war to end and acknowledging its high financial cost, Boebert defended the authority of President Donald Trump as commander-in-chief to utilize military force.
Boebert's Democratic challenger, retired Navy Rear Admiral Eileen Laubacher, criticized the representative for her legislative record. Laubacher accused Boebert of voting five times against war powers resolutions that would have urged the administration to conclude the conflict.
The military operation against Tehran has lasted over seven months, coinciding with rising economic strain and public discontent in the United States. Gas prices have risen to approximately $4.34 per gallon, marking a more than 40 percent increase from the previous year. A CNN and SSRS poll indicates that 64 percent of Americans believe the United States is not winning the conflict.
