He urged the president to replace personal associates in negotiations with experienced professionals and a coalition of allies.

These comments followed an announcement by President Trump on Saturday night that he was canceling a pending attack on Iran after reaching a rough framework for a peace deal. The framework aims to return both nations to negotiations.

Beyond the conflict strategy, Kelly questioned the United States Department of Defense's request for a $1.5 trillion budget for fiscal year 2027 and $67 billion in supplemental funding. He characterized the spending as irresponsible and specifically criticized the pursuit of space-based interceptors.
