Hostage Family Demands Security Inquiries After Israeli Elections
Ruby Chen is calling for Israeli and U.S. investigations into October 7 security failures as exit polls show an uncertain election outcome for Benjamin Netanyahu.
Families of victims and hostages from the October 7 attacks are demanding accountability and a formal inquiry into internal security failures following recent elections in Israel. Ruby Chen, the father of deceased hostage Itay Chen, advocated for an investigation committee outside a polling place, where he reported that a citizen called him and his son traitors.
Chen is urging the United States Congress to launch its own inquiry into the events of October 7, citing the fact that nearly 50 Americans were killed and a dozen were taken hostage. He questioned how a citizen could use such language against his son, who was kidnapped while protecting the border of Gaza.
These demands for accountability coincide with political instability in Israel. Recent exit polls suggest no clear winner in the national election, leaving the political future of Benjamin Netanyahu uncertain.
