Gaza Death Toll Exceeds 73,000 Amid Trump Peace Plan Conflict

The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 73,381, with 174,231 people injured since the Israeli offensive began on October 7, 2023. Reports indicate that 1,254 people have died since a ceasefire took effect in October 2025, a figure that now exceeds the approximately 1,200 people killed during the initial Hamas-led attacks.

This surge in violence follows the introduction of a 15-point peace plan by Donald Trump and his Board of Peace. The proposal suggests the disarmament of Hamas in exchange for an Israeli withdrawal and the establishment of a new administration in Gaza. The Israeli military asserts that recent strikes targeted Hamas fighters and infrastructure. However, Hamas accuses Israel of escalating violence specifically to block the peace plan.

International reaction has been critical. Regional ministers from Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia condemned the strikes as breaches of international law. Additionally, UNICEF reported that at least 300 children have died since the ceasefire, while the Board of Peace noted that strikes have destroyed critical medical supplies. The Israeli prime minister's office maintains that the public version of the peace plan does not accurately reflect Israel's positions.
