Israel Katz Announces Plans to Remove Palestinians from Gaza

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz announced Wednesday that Israel intends to remove Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, stating that migration is the only real solution for the territory. Katz claimed that 80 percent of the population wants to leave but is prevented by Hamas. He asserted that the Israeli government is prepared to execute the removal via sea, air, or other means if Hamas fails to meet ceasefire obligations.

This proposal aligns with a previous suggestion by U.S. President Donald Trump to have all two million Palestinians leave Gaza to facilitate the development of a luxury resort. Although Trump previously walked back the idea following pushback from Egypt and Palestinians, Katz stated the plan was only frozen while the United States seeks countries willing to accept the displaced population.

Forced displacement of civilians in occupied territory is considered a war crime under the Geneva Conventions. Katz maintained that the plan is still being discussed and remains the best solution for all parties involved.
