Senator Kennedy Says Trump Favors Daily Strikes Against Iran

U.S. Senator John Kennedy stated that President Donald Trump supports conducting daily strikes against Iran, suggesting the president adheres to a philosophy of "killing a few chickens to scare the monkeys." These comments follow nearly two weeks of continuous U.S. attacks on Iranian military sites and infrastructure threatening the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes were paused on Friday to allow for potential diplomacy.

Kennedy advocated for a continued blockade, tightened oil sanctions, and the bombing of Pickaxe Mountain, characterizing the Iranian leadership as "more than mildly insane." Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the administration's strategy as "a head for an eye." In response, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei rejected peace efforts, asserting that the only path forward is "jihad and resistance."

The escalation has resulted in the deaths of four American soldiers during retaliatory strikes on U.S. bases. Economically, the conflict has caused global oil prices to fluctuate around $100 per barrel. While Kennedy urged the government to stay the course despite rising energy costs, Senator Bill Cassidy called for a fuller national discussion regarding the goals and future of the conflict.
