Laura Ingraham Claims Republicans Secretly Hope to Lose Majorities

Fox News host Laura Ingraham claimed on her program, The Ingraham Angle, that many Republicans in Congress secretly hope to lose their majorities in the upcoming midterms. Ingraham suggested these lawmakers wish to avoid the burden of passing the legislative agenda of President Donald Trump, whom she indicated some view as a liability.

During a segment with Fox Business host Larry Kudlow, Ingraham questioned why GOP lawmakers are not more aggressively promoting positive economic data. She specifically cited United States Census Bureau figures showing that real median household income rose 2.6% in 2025 to $87,460, the highest gain since 1967. Kudlow characterized the current economic state for tradespeople as the greatest story never told.

These claims emerge amid reported rifts between President Trump and Senate Majority Leader John Thune. Current polling shows the president's approval rating at 39%, while Republican Senate candidates are trailing in several states that the president won during the 2024 election.
