Attorney General Todd Blanche Confirms DiGenova Probes Will Continue

U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche announced Tuesday that the Justice Department will continue investigations previously managed by federal prosecutor Joseph DiGenova. DiGenova resigned last week without providing a reason for his departure.

The Florida-based probe led by DiGenova sought to determine if President Donald Trump was the target of a long-running criminal conspiracy. This inquiry specifically examined 2017 intelligence findings on Russian interference in the 2016 election, as well as former Special Counsel Jack Smith's investigations into the retention of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago and efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Blanche stated that the departure of the prosecutor would not hinder the progress of the inquiries. He noted that any active investigations would continue as they typically do when a staff member leaves the department.
