Rahul Gandhi Challenges Narendra Modi to Open Public Debate

Rahul Gandhi challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a public debate, prompting Home Minister Amit Shah to suggest a formal letter and a parliamentary session.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi renewed a challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an open public debate on November 6, 2026. Addressing Union Home Minister Amit Shah via X, Gandhi urged Shah to persuade the Prime Minister to accept the proposal on any platform and at any time.

The challenge follows allegations by Gandhi that foreign support assisted Modi in becoming and remaining Prime Minister. Gandhi also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of issuing contradictory statements regarding whether the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls would be discussed in Parliament.

Responding at a rally in Karnal, Haryana, Amit Shah stated that Gandhi should formally write a letter to the Prime Minister if he is serious about a discussion. Shah added that the government is prepared to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss the electoral roll revision exercise.
