Russia Launches Massive Ballistic Missile Barrage Against Kyiv

The Military of Russia launched one of the largest ballistic missile barrages of the war against Kyiv on July 19, 2026. The assault included 41 missiles—including Zircon, S-400, and Iskander-M types—and 125 drones deployed nationwide. Strikes caused fires and structural damage across five districts of the capital, affecting residential buildings, a dormitory, and the Lukianivska metro station. One person was killed and up to 17 others were injured in the Kyiv region.

One specific strike hit an area 200 to 250 meters from the Azerbaijani Embassy in Ukraine, shattering windows and cracking ceilings in the embassy's administrative building. Embassy officials reported no injuries among staff. Meanwhile, separate Russian strikes hit a rehabilitation center in Sumy and a suburb of Kharkiv, where three people were killed and 16 wounded.

The Ukrainian Air Force intercepted 108 drones and 18 missiles. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that protection against ballistic missiles is the country's top priority and cited a critical shortage of Patriot interceptors. In response, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed readiness to grant licenses for Ukraine to produce its own Patriot interceptor missiles. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed the targets were military-linked sites, specifically plants producing drone and missile parts.
