Critics Target Senator Susan Collins Over Trump Alignment

Critics of Susan Collins are challenging her reputation as a moderate Republican, arguing that her voting record demonstrates a deep alignment with President Donald Trump. Rich Stuart of Thomaston cited data indicating Collins has voted with Trump's legislation 95% of the time during his current administration.

Referencing American Bridge PAC data, Stuart noted that Collins voted with Trump 94% of the time during his first administration, marking a 17% increase over her support for George W. Bush. Stuart characterized this shift as Collins becoming "radicalized under Trump" and urged voters to elect candidate Troy Jackson in the 2026 Maine Senate election to prevent her from continuing to "rubberstamp" the president's agenda.

Adding to the pressure, Paul Willis, a former Republican from Maine now living in Florida, announced he is withdrawing his support for the senator. Willis claimed the Republican Party has shifted from "compassionate conservative" values to a "vindictive conservative" mindset. He argued that voting for Collins is equivalent to supporting Trump's policies, which he described as hateful, corrupt, and ill-advised.
