Narendra Modi Forgives Students After Abusive Jantar Mantar Protests

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced his decision to forgive students who used abusive and derogatory language against him and his late mother during protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. The demonstrations, led by the Cockroach Janta Party, centered on alleged examination paper leaks. In video messages shared on Instagram and X, Modi described the protesters as misguided children and characterized the use of crude language as an ugly spectacle, but argued that punishment through court proceedings and police harassment would not resolve the situation.

Modi urged the public to guide the youth and called for unity in working for the progress of Bharat. His remarks came as legal actions were initiated against protesters. The Noida Police registered a Zero FIR against 25-year-old Ruchika Singh for using expletives during the protests; the case was subsequently transferred to Delhi's Parliament Street Police Station.

Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the Prime Minister, warning that the government cannot threaten Gen Z into silence. Saurav Das, a spokesperson for the Cockroach Janta Party, condemned the use of the criminal justice machinery against protesters, stating that no one should be punished merely for the words they used.
