Arvind Kejriwal Plans March to PM's Home Over E20 Fuel

Arvind Kejriwal will lead a protest march on August 4 to oppose the government's E20 ethanol-blended fuel policy and demand consumer choice at pumps.

Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal announced on August 1, 2026, that he will lead a protest march to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence in New Delhi on August 4 at 12:00 PM. During a town hall meeting at the Constitution Club of India, Kejriwal stated he will bring 100 volunteers to deliver an online petition signed by more than 200,000 citizens.

Kejriwal is demanding that the government allow consumers to choose between pure petrol and E20 ethanol-blended fuel at pumps, make E20 cheaper, and cap pure petrol prices below ₹84 per litre. He alleges that E20 fuel damages incompatible engines and reduces mileage, claiming the policy is being forced on citizens due to a $100 billion trade deal with the United States.

The Government of India and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas dismissed these claims, stating that the program is based on scientific evidence to reduce crude imports. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri called the engine damage concerns rumors. Additionally, Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra accused Kejriwal of spreading misinformation, challenging him to produce 100 vehicles that suffered engine failure specifically due to E20 fuel.
