Trump Campaigns in Red States to Defend GOP Majorities

President Donald Trump is conducting a multi-state campaign blitz in Republican strongholds and swing states to prevent a Democratic sweep of Congress in the November 3 midterms.

President Donald Trump is conducting a series of campaign stops across traditionally Republican strongholds and swing states to prevent a Democratic sweep of the House and Senate in the November 3 midterm elections. Since September 9, Trump has made 20 stops in states he previously won and six in battlegrounds, including multiple visits to Texas, Ohio, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Alabama.

The strategy follows reports of Democratic gains in unlikely regions and a record low approval rating for Trump of 33%. In Texas, Trump is supporting Senate nominee Ken Paxton in a deadlocked race against Democrat James Talarico. He is also campaigning for Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith in Mississippi and Senator Roger Marshall in Kansas. To support these efforts, the political operation MAGA Inc. has pledged over $400 million, with technology executive Elon Musk contributing more than $400 million to Republican races this cycle.

Other high-ranking officials, including Vice President JD Vance, Speaker Mike Johnson, and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., are stumping in key areas such as Wisconsin, Iowa, Montana, and Kansas. While Republicans are focusing on taxes and culture war issues, Democratic candidates are centering their platforms on affordability and ending the war in Iran. Some GOP strategists view the red-state blitz as necessary to ensure the base does not collapse, while critics warn that Trump's rhetoric regarding oil industry profits from the Iran war could alienate swing voters.
