Donald Trump Campaigns for GOP Senate Candidates Before Midterms

President Donald Trump is conducting a cross-country campaign blitz for Republican Senate candidates while the administration manages legal disputes and diplomatic arrivals.

President Donald Trump is conducting a cross-country campaign blitz to support Republican Senate candidates in the final days before midterm elections. During a stop in Texas to campaign for Ken Paxton, Trump suggested the possibility of making Venezuela the 51st state and urged residents to accept local data centers. This effort coincides with a $183 million Republican television advertising campaign targeting Democrats over transgender issues to shift focus away from economic concerns.

On the diplomatic and legal front, Trump approved the arrival of defeated Brazilian presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro and his family in Miami as they fled Brazil. Meanwhile, the United States Department of Justice is pursuing legal action to prevent noncitizen voting in Alaska, California, and Washington. Additionally, Judge Ana Reyes ordered the Justice Department to clarify plans for the East Potomac Golf Course following contradictory social media posts from the president.

Other administration figures are facing scrutiny. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. drew criticism for claiming that Arabs do not produce science. In the campaign trail, Democratic candidates are pushing back, with Texas candidate James Talarico vowing to beat billionaires to take back the state, and Pete Buttigieg campaigning for Scott Colom in Mississippi.
