President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan issued statements of grief and solidarity following a series of deadly storms, tornadoes, landslides, and heavy rains in China. The extreme weather caused significant loss of life and widespread destruction across the Hubei and Gansu provinces, as well as the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
President Zardari extended condolences to the affected families, characterizing the relationship between Pakistan and China as an "ironclad friendship." Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sent a separate message of condolence to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese government, stating his prayers for the recovery of the injured and the success of rescue operations currently underway.
