Trump Condemns Netanyahu as US and Iran Finalize Peace Deal

Donald Trump condemned Benjamin Netanyahu after Israeli strikes in Beirut threatened a finalized memorandum of understanding to end hostilities between the United States and Iran.

The United States and Iran have finalized a memorandum of understanding to end the war that began on February 28, 2026. The agreement, scheduled for signing this Friday in Switzerland, mandates a permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, and the lifting of the U.S. naval blockade against Iran. This follows a period of Iranian missile attacks and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Donald Trump condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the Israeli Defense Forces struck Beirut for a second time on June 15. Trump told Axios that Netanyahu had no judgment and warned that such actions could derail the imminent diplomatic breakthrough. Benjamin Netanyahu maintained that Israel is not a party to the memorandum and argued that Iran continues to seek the destruction of the Jewish state.

Domestically, former Prime Minister Ehud Barak called for the removal of Netanyahu with sticks and stones if the current leader attempts to sabotage upcoming general elections through military aggression. Barak alleged that Netanyahu is pursuing an endless war to delay his own corruption trials and International Criminal Court proceedings. In response, Likud lawmaker Boaz Bismuth demanded a criminal investigation into Barak for legitimizing violence.
