Financial Leaders Declare China-US Relations in Stable Equilibrium

Financial leaders in Hong Kong report a stable equilibrium in China-US relations following trade agreements and high-level diplomatic engagement.

Financial executives at the Global Financial Leaders' Investment Summit in Hong Kong announced that relations between China and the United States have reached a stable equilibrium. William Ford, CEO of General Atlantic, characterized the relationship as being in a cyclical upswing, noting that the stability was fostered by five meetings throughout the year between US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese leaders.

This diplomatic progress follows discussions between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in South Korea. Those talks led to the resolution of several bilateral trade irritants and China's formal approval of a transfer agreement for TikTok.

While diplomatic ties have improved, HSBC Group CEO Georges Elhedery warned that the global macroeconomic landscape still faces significant threats. He specifically highlighted the risk posed by rapid technological disruptions, such as unregulated stablecoin issuers.
