Defense Group Urges Trump to Pressure Musk Over Starlink

The Foundation for Defense of Democracies is calling on President Donald Trump to force Elon Musk to enable Starlink services inside Russia for Ukrainian operations.

The Foundation for Defense of Democracies is urging the United States government to intervene and allow Ukraine to utilize Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet service for operations inside Russian territory. The organization argues that enabling the service would allow Ukraine to target ballistic-missile launchers directly, mitigating a critical shortage of interceptors for American-made Patriot systems.

Russia is currently producing over 100 ballistic missiles per month with support from the Government of North Korea, leaving Ukrainian cities vulnerable to bombardment. While Ukraine has successfully used Starlink-controlled drones to strike targets in occupied territories, the service remains inaccessible within Russia. Elon Musk has resisted lifting this restriction and has suggested that Ukraine should instead seek peace.

The Foundation for Defense of Democracies maintains that Vladimir Putin will not negotiate as long as he believes he can prevail militarily. Consequently, the group is calling on President Donald Trump to pressure Musk to lift the restrictions to help Ukraine neutralize the missile threat.
