Iran Warns U.S. After Democrats Win Congressional Majorities
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned the U.S. of a nightmare if it continues military action against Iran following Democratic midterm election victories.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the speaker of Iran's parliament, stated that the American public has said "NO TO WAR" following midterm election projections showing Democrats flipping both the House and Senate. Ghalibaf warned that if the U.S. government betrays this public will to serve international interests, it will face a "Nightmare."
The conflict began in February after Donald Trump launched joint strikes with Israel against Iran. Trump maintains he did the right thing, though he acknowledged the war contributed to Republican losses in the midterms. The military campaign has increased U.S. energy prices and heightened cost-of-living concerns for American citizens.
While the U.S. has not explicitly announced plans to resume attacks, reports suggest preparations for renewed military action are underway. With their new majorities, Democrats may now pursue a binding War Powers Resolution to force an end to the conflict, building on a non-binding resolution passed in June.
