Trump Meets Global Leaders at UN General Assembly

A state visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled for Thursday, occurring as a U.S.-China trade truce nears its November expiration. The summit will focus on tariffs, artificial intelligence, and China's ban on rare-earth exports.

To prepare for the summit, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent held preliminary talks with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in New York. These discussions aimed to advance U.S. economic interests ahead of the formal meeting between the two presidents.
