Slovakia Endorses India's UN Security Council Bid

Slovakia's Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar officially supported India's candidature for a non-permanent UN Security Council seat during diplomatic talks in New York.

Slovakia's Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Juraj Blanar, officially expressed support for India's candidature for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2028–29 term. Blanar delivered the endorsement during a meeting with India's External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in New York.

The diplomatic move follows a reciprocal arrangement in which India previously supported Slovakia's own candidature. During their discussions, the two ministers addressed UN Security Council reform, effective multilateralism, and cooperation on global security challenges. They also focused on preparations for Slovakia's V4 Presidency and the V4+India format.

This engagement builds on a recent two-day state visit to Slovakia by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During that visit, Modi met with Slovakian President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico to discuss bilateral relations.
