Indian Leaders Issue Greetings for Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations

President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to citizens in India and worldwide on September 14, 2026, to mark the beginning of Ganesh Chaturthi. President Murmu urged Indians to use the festival's themes of wisdom and prosperity as inspiration for nation-building, while Prime Minister Modi prayed that the deity would provide new energy to citizens and guide the country toward continuous growth.

Other government officials joined the celebrations, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who both extended wishes for prosperity and national progress. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini offered greetings for the occasion alongside Hartalika Teej and Hindi Diwas. From the opposition, Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal shared prayers for the removal of sorrows from citizens' lives via social media.

Indian National Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge also issued greetings. Gandhi wished citizens happiness and the removal of obstacles, while Kharge highlighted the historical role of freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, who used the festival to foster public awakening and unity during India's struggle for independence. The ten-day festival is being observed across India with the installation of idols in homes and public pandals, concluding with ceremonial immersion rituals.
