U.S. Attorney Jason Reding Quiñones Resigns From Florida Office

U.S. Attorney Jason Reding Quiñones resigned from the Department of Justice following a stalled investigation into Obama-era officials and intelligence veterans.

U.S. Attorney Jason Reding Quiñones resigned from the Department of Justice on November 6, 2026. Attorney General Todd Blanche announced the departure on social media, praising Quiñones for his work on violent crime, drug trafficking, and the indictment of former Cuban leader Raúl Castro.

Quiñones led the Southern District of Florida, which served as the hub for the grand conspiracy probe. This wide-ranging investigation targeted Obama-era officials and intelligence veterans whom President Donald Trump viewed as enemies. Despite repeated promises to produce indictments, the probe was marked by instability and a lack of charges.

Several leaders departed the investigation since April, including career official Maria Medetis Long, who was removed after concluding there was insufficient evidence for charges, and Joseph DiGenova, who resigned in September. Senior administration officials reportedly grew dissatisfied with the lack of progress. The resignation follows heavy Republican losses in the November 3 midterm elections and the recent departure of Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon.
