Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Defends CDC Purge in Contentious Senate Hearing

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. faced a combative three-hour Senate Finance Committee hearing on September 4, 2025, where he defended a sweeping overhaul of federal health agencies. Kennedy justified the firing of CDC Director Susan Monarez—who served less than a month—and the removal of all 17 members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, replacing them with vaccine skeptics.
