Trump and Netanyahu Discuss Imposing Land Blockade on Iran

President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in the Oval Office on Tuesday to discuss the possibility of imposing a land blockade on Iran. The proposal aims to intensify economic pressure by persuading Iran's neighbors and regional partners to tighten or close border crossings, restricting both imports and exports.

This strategy stems from Trump's belief that current efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz have been exhausted. A land blockade would align with a maximum pressure strategy intended to cripple Tehran's economy and potentially hinder the delivery of Chinese air defense systems and rocket launchers.

Israeli officials suggested the move could bring Iran to its knees. However, former U.S. military official Sean MacFarland noted that such a blockade would be almost impossible given Iran's borders with closely aligned nations like Iraq.
