South Korea and India Intensify AI and Mineral Partnerships
South Korean Ambassador Lee Seong-ho announced expanded collaboration with India on artificial intelligence, semiconductor markets, and critical mineral supply chains.
South Korean Ambassador to India Lee Seong-ho announced on June 29 that South Korea is pursuing more intense collaboration with India focusing on artificial intelligence and critical minerals. This initiative builds upon a Joint Strategic Vision established during President Lee Jae Myung's state visit to India in April.
The two nations are launching the India-Korea Digital Bridge to facilitate cooperation in AI, data governance, and digital businesses. This framework aligns India's AI for All vision with South Korea's MANAV approach, emphasizing joint research and talent development. As part of these efforts, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited South Korean companies to enter the Indian semiconductor market.
Beyond digital technology, the partnership aims to secure supply chains for critical minerals through geological mapping and e-waste recovery. The collaboration further extends to defense manufacturing, shipbuilding, and secondary batteries, integrating South Korean manufacturing expertise with India's existing IT ecosystem.
