Kim Jong Un Visits China to Strengthen Anti-US Ties
Kim Jong Un entered China via the New Yalu River Bridge to align with Beijing and Moscow against the United States.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited the Chinese border city of Dandong on Saturday, October 24, 2026. According to the South Korean government and unification ministry, Kim entered China using the newly opened New Yalu River Bridge, marking his first visit to the country in one year.
The visit follows a June meeting between Kim and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Pyongyang. South Korean officials view the use of the new bridge as a symbol of strengthening trade ties and an effort by Pyongyang to align with Beijing and Moscow. Kim has characterized the current geopolitical climate as a "new Cold War" against the United States.
This diplomatic movement occurs as Kim continues to rebuff proposals from U.S. President Donald Trump to revive diplomacy. However, South Korean intelligence suggests there is a 50% possibility that Trump and Kim will meet during next month's APEC summit in Shenzhen.
