Marco Rubio Visits Uzbekistan and India for Energy Deals
Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit Uzbekistan and India to strengthen strategic partnerships and advance a $300 billion Texas refinery project.
Marco Rubio will travel to Uzbekistan and India from October 17 to 22, 2026, to advance strategic partnerships and energy cooperation. The itinerary begins in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, where the Secretary of State will participate in the C5+1 Ministerial and hold bilateral meetings with Central Asian officials.
Following the engagements in Uzbekistan, Rubio will travel to Mumbai and Jamnagar, India. A central objective of the India visit is the energy sector, specifically the development of a planned $300 billion refinery in Brownsville, Texas. President Donald Trump announced in March that the facility would be constructed with investment from Reliance Industries.
While in India, Rubio is scheduled to meet with senior government officials and a commercial delegation of more than 200 business leaders. These discussions will focus on promoting economic cooperation and addressing regional and global dynamics.
