Chris Christie Declares Trump Era Over After GOP Losses
Former Governor Chris Christie says the Trump era has ended following significant Republican losses in the midterm elections, including the Texas governorship.
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie declared that "the Trump era is over" following significant Republican losses in the midterm elections. Speaking on ABC News, Christie cited the defeat of three-term Texas Governor Greg Abbott, along with losses by Ken Paxton and Darline Graham, as evidence of a shift in political momentum.
Christie projected that Democrats are headed for a majority in the Senate and may secure approximately 240 seats in the House, with nearly 27 Democratic governors nationwide. He emphasized the severity of the defeat, stating, "You cannot lose at this level."
Voter polling indicates a rejection of the current administration's direction in traditionally Republican strongholds. A majority of voters in deep red states, including Texas, Ohio, and South Carolina, believe President Donald Trump no longer has the right priorities. In Ohio, 60% of polled voters expressed this view, while 57% of voters in South Carolina agreed.
