Narendra Modi Calls for Global Reform and Attacks Congress

Prime Minister Narendra Modi advocated for Global South representation and systemic institutional reform while accusing the Congress party of undermining India's stability.

During the NDTV World Summit in New Delhi on October 22, Narendra Modi called for a new global order centered on collective well-being and the systemic reform of multilateral institutions. He argued that organizations like the United Nations are struggling to keep pace with a changing world, warning that trade, technology, and sea routes are being weaponized. Modi positioned India as a stabilizing bridge-builder and a friend to the world, citing the distribution of vaccines to over 100 countries during the pandemic and India's leadership in the G20 and BRICS summits.

Simultaneously, Modi launched a sharp attack on the Indian National Congress, characterizing the party as a parasite dominated by dimagi naxals. He alleged that the party's leadership family has become a burden and described attempts to promote its leaders as failed products. He further accused the opposition of attempting to create disorder within India and defaming the nation's reputation by seeking intervention from foreign powers.

These remarks coincided with protests in Delhi led by Rahul Gandhi and the INDIA bloc. Demonstrators are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. While the Election Commission defends the process as a standard update to remove ineligible voters, the protests have led to police detentions and disputes over the use of Jantar Mantar as a protest site.
