US Blocks Israeli Plan to Attack Iran Before Election

The United States intervened to thwart a planned military operation against Iran led by Benjamin Netanyahu and Mossad chief Roman Gofman. The operation was allegedly scheduled to take place immediately preceding Israel's October 27 election. Reports indicate the plan was exposed after an Israeli security operative inadvertently alerted Washington, prompting the U.S. to step in and block the action.
Internal opposition within Israel also stalled the plan. Military Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and other senior security officials feared the strike would trigger a major escalation with Iran and force a postponement of the national vote. These leaders reportedly expressed concern that Netanyahu intended to use a conflict with Iran for political gain.
Netanyahu's office denied the reports, stating that an attack before the elections was never on the agenda. Following the November 3 U.S. midterm elections, Netanyahu reportedly urged President Donald Trump to resume war against Iran. However, Trump preferred to allow more time for ongoing diplomatic negotiations mediated by Qatar.
