Trump Signals Regime Change as Cuba Warns of US Aggression

Tensions between the United States and Cuba escalated during the United Nations General Assembly in late September 2026. Donald Trump declared that Cuba is failing and that freedom will be coming to the island, prompting the Cuban delegation to walk out of the assembly. While Trump told reporters he does not believe the military will be needed and expects a deal, internal U.S. Army Reserve messages reveal planning to provide police, medical, and logistics units to U.S. Southern Command within 90 to 120 days for potential action around the island. Cuban officials have responded with sharp condemnations. Despite the rhetoric, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is reportedly engaged in negotiations with Havana.
