Trump Considers Military Action Against Houthi Rebels

President Donald Trump is weighing joining Saudi Arabia's military campaign against Houthi rebels following deadly missile strikes on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport.

President Donald Trump is considering joining a Saudi Arabian military campaign against Iran-backed Houthi rebels. The decision follows a series of missile strikes on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. A Saturday attack killed 12 people, including one American citizen, and injured more than 300 others, while a subsequent strike on Sunday killed a Pakistani national.

The Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for the attacks and warned that Saudi airports and airspace, with the exception of those in Mecca and Medina, are now targets. Secretary of State Marco Rubio condemned the strikes as a "blatant disregard for innocent civilian life."

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has pushed for urgent U.S. defense support to degrade Houthi capabilities. However, the United Kingdom has ruled out offensive operations, with Defense Secretary Wes Streeting stating "there is no military solution to the conflict."

The potential intervention occurs as energy prices soar and the U.S. remains engaged in a war with Iran that began in February. Observers note that a new bombing campaign could escalate regional instability ahead of the U.S. midterm elections.
