Attorney General Todd Blanche Vows Integrity in First DOJ Speech

U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche delivered his first speech as leader of the Justice Department on Thursday at the agency's Washington headquarters. Blanche promised to lead the department with integrity and to uphold the rule of law fairly and impartially.

His conciliatory tone follows a period of turbulence during President Donald Trump's second term, which saw the departure of thousands of officials and conflicts with the judiciary. While Blanche stated the department would respect the role of the judiciary, he asserted that the agency would not be intimidated out of enforcing the law or executing administration priorities.

Blanche, a former defense lawyer for Donald Trump, was narrowly confirmed by the Senate last week. His confirmation followed an agreement to rescind an order for an anti-weaponization fund and a clarification of the terms of a settlement granting Donald Trump and his family immunity from past tax audits.
