Democrats Win Midterms as Trump Allies Distance Themselves

Democrats secured a major victory in the midterm elections, prompting high-ranking Republicans to distance themselves from President Donald Trump amid new lawsuits over White House renovations.

The Democratic Party achieved a significant blue wave in the Tuesday midterm elections, securing at least 252 House seats and flipping the governorship and State House in Texas. Democrats also made critical gains in Senate races in Alaska and Mississippi and won both the governor and senator seats in Iowa.

Following these losses, Donald Trump is facing a decline in support from his inner circle. Vice President JD Vance has begun distancing himself from the president, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio is reportedly considering leaving the administration.

Simultaneously, the president is facing legal challenges from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and approximately eight other architectural organizations. These lawsuits concern unauthorized alterations Trump made to the Kennedy Center and the East Wing of the White House.
