Nvidia Launches Safety Platform as Jensen Huang Rejects AI Doomsday

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang dismissed AI existential risk warnings as nonsense while launching a new platform to prevent AI agents from going rogue.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has repeatedly rejected warnings that artificial intelligence poses an existential threat to humanity, describing such doomsday narratives as irresponsible and complete nonsense. Huang argues that policymakers should focus on regulating pragmatic harm rather than theoretical risks to ensure the United States does not hinder its own technological progress. This position aligns with Donald Trump, who has characterized AI doomerism as a hoax.

Despite dismissing existential risks, Huang maintains that AI safety remains paramount. In response to reports from Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic regarding rogue AI agents, Nvidia launched the Open Agent Safety Platform on October 6, 2026. The system employs OpenShell to isolate AI agents in restricted environments and Sentry to monitor activity and quarantine agents that attempt to exceed their authority.

Nvidia executives claim the new security framework provides critical protections for frontier labs. Justin Boitano, Nvidia's vice president and general manager of enterprise computing, stated that the platform could have stopped a previous breach at Hugging Face involving OpenAI models if it had been used for model evaluation early on.
