Trump Declares Iran Military Decimated and Nuclear Ambitions Ended

President Donald Trump announced the end of the war with Iran, claiming U.S. military and economic operations have destroyed Tehran's nuclear and military capabilities.

President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that the war with Iran will be brought to an end, asserting that the Iranian military has been decimated and is no longer the bully of the Middle East. Speaking in Maryland, Trump stated the outcome depends on whether the process happens the "nice way" or the "not-so-nice way." He credited the U.S. Navy with ensuring Iran will never obtain a nuclear weapon, citing a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz described as a "wall of steel."

Administration officials detailed a two-pronged strategy of military and economic attrition. Secretary of State Marco Rubio credited Operation Epic Fury with dismantling Iran's air, naval, and missile capacities, while Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reported that Operation Economic Outcast crashed the Iranian rial and halted crude oil exports. Vice President JD Vance noted that Washington remains open to a deal if Iran makes meaningful cuts to nuclear enrichment, highlighting leadership uncertainty in Tehran following a joint U.S.-Israeli strike that eliminated Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

While Israeli President Isaac Herzog emphasized the necessity of the conflict to stop an empire of proxies, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned that further military action would draw a painful and devastating response. To support long-term maritime dominance, Trump also announced a new shipyard project involving a $3.7 billion investment from Anduril Industries and $2.9 billion from the U.S. Navy.
