Russia Extends Diesel Export Ban Through January 2027
The Russian government extended its diesel export ban through January while granting limited exemptions to selected suppliers to stabilize domestic fuel markets.
The Federal Government of Russia extended a general ban on diesel exports by domestic producers through the end of January to maintain stability in the domestic fuel market. Despite the extension, the government is implementing exemptions for selected suppliers to allow limited shipments to international markets.
This policy follows a recent easing of restrictions after United States President Donald Trump stated he was working with Russian President Vladimir Putin to return Russian diesel to global markets. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak expects diesel exports to increase to approximately 2.15 million metric tons in November, a significant rise from the 510,000 tons recorded in October.
Novak noted that while Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries could affect export volumes, the impact is unlikely to be significant.
