Mallikarjun Kharge Demands Youth Employment Roadmap and Modi Apology
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge called for a time-bound education-to-employment roadmap and an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a party leadership meeting.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge called for the creation of a time-bound education-to-employment roadmap during a Congress Working Committee meeting at Indira Bhawan on August 19, 2026. Kharge accused the government of Narendra Modi of destroying the future of students by closing 94,000 schools, privatizing higher education, and overseeing recruitment exam scandals.
These criticisms followed massive student protests in New Delhi that forced the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. During the meeting, which included senior leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, the party discussed the Chhatron Ki Goonj initiative launched by Rahul Gandhi to highlight student grievances.
Beyond education, Kharge demanded an apology from Prime Minister Modi regarding alleged scams involving Ram temple donations and called for transparency concerning Chinese encroachment along national borders. The leadership also used the session to coordinate preparations for upcoming assembly elections in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
