Donald Trump Predicts Broad European Peace Deal After Russian Envoy Meeting

President Donald Trump met with a Russian envoy at the White House, predicting a large-scale agreement to end the Ukraine war that could involve all of Europe.

President Donald Trump met with Kirill Dmitriev, a special envoy for Russian President Vladimir Putin, at the White House on Thursday. Trump stated that the Russia-Ukraine war is very close to being settled and predicted a "big agreement" that could extend beyond Ukraine to a broader European security architecture, suggesting it "might involve all of Europe."

While Trump met with the Russian envoy, he did not meet with Ukrainian officials present at the White House that day. Those officials had gathered for an event hosted by First Lady Melania Trump to recognize her role in brokering a localized six-day ceasefire in Oleshky, Ukraine. That operation allowed for the delivery of humanitarian aid and the evacuation of nearly 800 civilians.

These developments precede scheduled peace talks between United States, Ukrainian, and Russian officials in the United Arab Emirates next week. The diplomatic push follows recent activity including discussions on security guarantees in Brussels and an October 21 meeting in St. Petersburg between Vladimir Putin and U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff.
