Israel Rejects Trump's Gaza Disarmament Plan Over Security Concerns

The Government of Israel has expressed serious security concerns to the White House regarding a 20-point ceasefire and disarmament plan promoted by Donald Trump. The framework requires Hamas to surrender weapons and destroy tunnels in exchange for Israeli withdrawal and the installation of a technocratic Palestinian government. While Hamas agreed to disarm and transfer governance to an independent Palestinian entity, the Israeli government asserts the public version of the plan does not reflect its positions.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office and spokesperson Doron Spielman argue that any withdrawal before the genuine, verifiable, and irreversible demilitarization of Hamas would allow the group to rebuild its infrastructure and launch further attacks. Israel is seeking additional conditions, including the right to continue military operations in Gaza and the exclusion of Qatar and Turkey from the verification process. Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps dismissed the proposal as a failed plot, coinciding with the second anniversary of Ismail Haniyeh's assassination.

Despite the diplomatic efforts, Israel continues military operations in northern Gaza and Gaza City. These strikes have resulted in casualties ranging from 13 to 19 people. While President Trump described Hamas's agreement to hand over weapons as a major milestone, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir rejected the framework as unacceptable, maintaining that Israel must win.
