Nvidia Projects Chip Sales to Double Amid AI Surge

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang forecasts a doubling of chip sales next year, driven by global AI demand and the rollout of new hardware platforms.

Nvidia Corporation reported a 105.9% year-over-year revenue increase to $96.2 billion for the second quarter of 2027, attributing the growth to AI demand extending beyond hyperscalers. The company issued a revenue growth outlook of 70% for fiscal year 2028, which could bring annual revenue to approximately $673 billion. Wall Street analysts suggest the stock has potential to nearly double in price over the next year as its price-to-earnings ratio normalizes toward the S&P 500 average.

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, announced at a summit convened by King Charles III in Scotland that the company expects to sell twice as many chips next year as it does this year. Huang attributed this projection to the deployment of the Blackwell and Vera Rubin platforms, as well as a surge in sovereign and enterprise AI. To support this infrastructure, Nvidia is working with BlackRock and Goldman Sachs to mobilize over $500 billion in third-party capital.

During the Scotland summit, Huang joined representatives from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google DeepMind to discuss AI safety, arguing that companies must hold back products that are not safe. This position contrasts with comments from President Donald Trump at the All-In Summit in Los Angeles, where he dismissed AI safety concerns as a "hoax" and described data centers as "the oil of the next 20, 25 years."
