Netanyahu Claims Special Forces Would Prevent ICC Arrest

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asserted in a Fox News interview that Israel's special forces are prepared to intervene if a foreign government attempts to detain him under an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant. The warrant was issued in November 2024, alleging war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, specifically the use of starvation as a method of warfare.

While visiting the United States, Netanyahu dismissed calls from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who labeled him a war criminal and urged federal authorities to intervene during his visit to the city. In response, U.S. President Donald Trump reassured Netanyahu that he faces no risk of arrest within American jurisdiction.

These developments followed a 90-minute meeting in Washington between Netanyahu and Trump. The leaders focused on regional security and efforts to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear capabilities, occurring during a pause in hostilities following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes in February.
