Ukraine Evaluates Comprehensive Indian Peace Proposal for Russia Conflict
Ukraine is considering a peace proposal from India, which Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha described as the most comprehensive of four international offers to end the war.
Ukraine is evaluating four international peace proposals to end its conflict with Russia, with Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha identifying the offer from Narendra Modi as the most comprehensive. The other three frameworks were submitted by the United States, which proposed an energy truce, and Turkiye and Egypt, who jointly proposed a grain and agricultural truce in the Black Sea.
Sybiha stated that Kyiv is open to a truce provided it combines protections for energy infrastructure and the Black Sea. While Ukraine is also evaluating an unconditional ceasefire along the line of contact, Russia has previously rejected such a move, insisting instead on a comprehensive peace agreement.
Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the efforts of the Indian Prime Minister, noting that Modi consistently raises the issue of ending the conflict during their meetings. However, Putin dismissed the idea of ending long-range strikes as "ridiculous," even as Moscow intensifies aerial attacks on Kyiv. Modi has maintained a neutral, humanitarian stance, expressing India's willingness to support efforts toward a lasting peace.
